I am pleased to be able to offer thumb CMC Replacements to Kingston patients via the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Epsom. Base of thumb arthritis is a common condition affecting the carpo-metacarpal joint of the thumb and causing pain and stiffness. Historically the commonest procedure offered for this condition was trapeziectomy - surgically excising the small trapezium bone underneath the thumb. This remains a very effective treatment for thumb arthritis, but it can take six months before patients are pain free. With the CMC replacement, this can be as little as one week post surgery.
I am pleased to be able to offer this procedure privately at New Victoria and King Edward VII's Hospitals, and through Kingston Hospital at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
